Pogradec Albania

We are SO enjoying our visit to Albania. As I am writing this post, I can hear the gentleman in the two cafes below our apartment chatting and laughing. If I look out from the balcony, I can see dozens of people starting their day by walking. They may be headed to a local market or just walking for the joy of strolling along beautiful Lake Ohrid.

The lake and the surrounding communities are a UNESCO world heritage site and chosen for this honor due to the cultural and natural significance of the area.  The lake is known to be one of the most bio-diverse lakes on the entire planet and also one of the oldest in Europe.

We are "water people" and that is primarily one of the reasons why we chose to visit this town. Our favourite swimming spot is away from the city since the water seems to be cleaner and clearer than the more developed "touristy" beach area.

I have posted a YouTube video that showcases our time here during the month of June.

We have fallen in love with this town and it's people.  Lake Ohrid is amazing and the summer weather reminds us of Montana: warm temperatures but low humidity and the evenings are much cooler.

Being able to swim everyday is such a treat for me and being able to walk everywhere and not needing a car is icing on the cake.

Although we have some slow times where we are just relaxing and swimming, it seems like there is at least one new interesting thing we see or experience each and every day.

Take for example the vendors who ride their bikes while pulling a bike trailer containing dozens of inflatable Beach toys. 😲

I wonder what we will see today? 😊

Until we "chat" again, Goodbye
