Snowbird Migration
So we have migrated South and although it was so hard to say goodbye to our son and to our new friends in Tennessee, the weather here is so much nicer. π Not too warm, not too cold and just right to suit us.
The drive down was gorgeous as we avoided all the major cities and traveled only on back roads and although it took a lot longer, our route was so relaxing and scenic.
We do love Tennessee but our 3 months stay there had multiple days of downright unpleasant weather. I don't mind the snow but I need to see the sun once in awhile and we had days of cloudy and gloomy skies. We like to stay active so with our Silver Sneakers program, we did join a local gym and that was a nice place to exercise during bad weather. We had one good sized snow storm and it was actually very beautiful and it was fun to walk in a winter wonderland especially for us retired folks who don't need to drive anywhere.
We are now enjoying a different kind of white stuff. Our short term rental is a short walk to the Gulf and we received a fantastic monthly discount as well as an early bird discount for reserving the apartment about 10 months ago.
We love this part of Florida and the Gulf waters are a beautiful blue-green color and the beach sand is like sugar. We've had quite a sea breeze for the last few days and we do have to watch our step as there are many Portuguese man of war on the shoreline.
So our next "stay" will be in Central Florida and will be our last stop before we take our nomadic lifestyle abroad. We are getting super excited but untill then, we are going to enjoy being Florida snowbirds. ππ
