Winter in Tennessee
So I think the biggest thrill for us here in Tennessee, other than seeing our son after many months of being apart, was to see frost flowers for the very first time. We had never even heard of this phenomenon and to be quite honest, we thought they were pieces of trash wrapped around the stems of plants. 🤣 In our defense, we were driving by in our car going at a good rate of speed so it was really hard to tell what they were until we stopped on the side of the road one day to get a closer look.
The weather conditions have to be just right for these beautiful little ice sculptures to form.
So we're presently at a short-term rental that we found on Furnished Finders and it's been a wonderful "stay". It's only about a 19 mile drive to our son's property and there are wonderful gyms in the area that we joined through our free Silver Sneakers program. We are also located on a lake with beautiful views from the many windows in the rental. The landlords are so nice and although this area is booming with development, our rental is on a private drive in a small little community that is very quiet. The icing on the cake is that it was very reasonably priced for this area and there were no additional service fees like the ones that occur when we rent through Airbnb.
We only have two more short-term rentals lined up before we head out in April on a repositioning cruise to Italy. Our tentative plans are to stay abroad for at least a year and then we need to return to the US to renew our international health plan. Who knows where we will go after that? 🤔
For now, we are loving the sunsets, happy to see our son's smile in person & enjoying our "deer friends" that greet us nearly everyday.
PS: I am so sorry that this blog struggles to load as my images are too large and I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix this issue. I know Blogger is supposed to be easy but it lacks a lot of customization features especially if you only use the app like I do. No excuses....I am a Blogger dummy for sure. 🤣
