A New Chapter

So we have finished our "van life" chapter in our nomadic lifestyle 😲. On February 14th we said goodbye to the most favorite home we have ever owned & handed over the keys to a wonderful couple from Minneapolis Minnesota. They snapped our picture right before they drove off with our beloved "Trekstar" .

I'm not going to lie and say that it was easy to sell our van since it gave us a sense of security knowing that we always had a place to call "home". We also had a sentimental attachment to our Roadtrek so emotionally it was difficult as well.

So if we loved our van so much then why did we sell it you ask? It just started to feel too small & we both started to struggle with being in the van on consecutive rainy days and during the long hours of darkness during the winter months. Jim also really missed having a larger kitchen area for food prep and cooking. He is so thrilled now to be able to prepare meals in a "real" kitchen & to be able to bake in an oven.

The timing also seemed perfect for selling and we couldn't have asked for nicer buyers who seemed to really appreciate all of our own little touches and modifications that we made to our van.

So what's next for the "over the hill nomads"? That's a very good question and we did go ahead and book some Airbnb, Furnished Finders and Facebook Marketplace rentals until November of this year. That will give us plenty of time to make a plan for our future adventures. Are we going to settle down? Are we going to transition from domestic to international travel? Who knows?  All options and opportunities are on the table.

In the meantime, we are still working on our son's property since he plans to move there in the near future.

Lots of hard work but we are thankful that we are physically up for the challenge. πŸ’ͺπŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Speaking of challenges, we now need to be able to fit all of our "stuff" (besides a few totes left in storage) into our teeny tiny Mitsubishi Mirage.  That also includes my inflatable paddle board, Jim's kayak, our bikes, etc etc. 😲😲

The Mirage has only a fraction of storage space compared to our former vehicle, a Honda Element, (that met it's demise with a deer encounter) but it gets stellar gas mileage. We also have a wonderful warranty with our vehicle and like many other Mirage owners; we absolutely love this little car.

So in a few short weeks, we will be hitting the road again so stay tuned and safe travels to all and may you enjoy the onset of Spring πŸŒ±πŸŒΌπŸ‘πŸš—
