Deerlick Creek Campground

So this Tuscaloosa, Alabama campground made our "Top 10 Army Corps of Engineer" list. Well, we don't really have a list 😊 but it is one of our favorites that we have visited so far.

So we have lots of reasons why we enjoyed this campground so much. First of all, the sites were private and spacious & many have water views, the volunteer staff does an amazing job with cleaning the sites as well as cleaning the restrooms and our Verizon signal "rocked" (around 87.9 mbps).

Add to these attributes, is that this campground has lots of hiking trails & hills so you can get a good workout walking around the area. It is also located only 11 miles from a Publix grocery store so running out to buy supplies was not a long haul.
Another plus for this campground is free fire wood. The camp hosts cut up fallen trees & leave piles of wood in several locations around the park.

The only negative would be that they have closed their laundry area so as full-timers, we missed not having a place on site to wash our clothes. Also, due to all the recent rain, the Black Warrior-Tombigbee Waterway was quite muddy but even if it wasn't so muddy, it is definitely not a place that we would consider swimming, (not even in their designated swimming area).
Something else about this campground that should be noted is that there are many sites that are big rig friendly but there are several that are not because they are located on hairpin turns. We watched many folks with big "Class A" RV's and those with long tow behinds, struggle with sites 36-40. We loved site 36 but we could tell by the gouges in the concrete that the driveway was too steep for many folks with travel trailers to access the level area.

So the sunsets here are amazing and icing on the cake was that the sites here are only $14 with our America the Beautiful Senior Lifetime pass.  So where can you live on a river for $14 a day and that includes your electric?  😊👍🚐
